Social Worker – Family Safeguarding Team (Permanent)

 

Location: West Berkshire Council, Newbury (Hybrid working available)

Salary: £34,834 – £44,075 (dependent on experience)

£6,000 Market Supplement plus £3,000 Annual Retention

Contract: Permanent

 

Pro Social Partners are proud to be working in partnership with West Berkshire Council to recruit Social Workers to join their Family Safeguarding Teams.

 

West Berkshire has adopted the Family Safeguarding model, bringing adult specialists and children's social workers together in one team around each family, and backs its practitioners with a package worth up to £53,000 including supplement and retention.

 

The Role

As a Social Worker within the Family Safeguarding Team, you will:

Work within a multi-disciplinary Family Safeguarding team alongside adult mental health, substance misuse, and domestic abuse specialists.

Manage children subject to child in need and child protection plans, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met.

Complete high-quality, strengths-based assessments that clearly analyse risk, need, and protective factors.

Build purposeful and trusting relationships with children, young people, and families.

Prepare clear, analytical reports for conferences, reviews, and court where required.

 

About You

You will be a committed and capable practitioner with:

A recognised Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.

Post-qualifying experience within Children's Social Care.

Strong assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.

Confidence working with complexity, risk, and multi-agency partners.

A clear commitment to relationship-based and strengths-led practice.
